Discuss the difference between Plinth area and Carpet area.

Answer

Plinth area includes the total built-up covered area with walls, while Carpet area is the actual usable floor space.

The Plinth Area is the total built-up covered area measured at the floor level of the basement or any storey, which importantly includes the area occupied by both internal and external walls. Conversely, the Carpet Area is the actual usable area inside the rooms where a carpet can be laid, completely excluding the thickness of walls, pillars, balconies, and common areas.
