The primary function of the Union Legislature (Parliament) is to make laws for the country, control the executive, approve the budget, and represent the will of the people.
The Union Legislature, i.e. the Parliament of India (comprising the President, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha), has as its primary function the enactment of laws on subjects in the Union List and Concurrent List. Beyond law-making, it exercises control over the executive through question hour, debates, and no-confidence motions, approves the annual budget and financial legislation (money bills), ratifies constitutional amendments, and serves as the principal forum for deliberation and representation of the people's will at the national level.
