Q.7. [CO2] (K2) What is the importance of E-Governance?

Answer

E-Governance improves the efficiency, transparency and accessibility of government services by using information and communication technology to deliver services, disseminate information, and enable citizen participation.

E-Governance refers to the use of information and communication technology (ICT) by government agencies to deliver public services, exchange information, and facilitate citizen participation more efficiently. Its importance lies in reducing bureaucratic delays and corruption through transparent, trackable online processes; improving accessibility of government services (e.g., Digital India, Aadhaar-linked services, online tax filing) especially in remote areas; enabling real-time data-driven policy-making; and empowering citizens by providing them direct digital access to government records, grievance redressal and welfare schemes without physical intermediaries.
