When 'n' number of resistors ( $R_{1}, R_{2}, R_{3}, \dots, R_{n}$ ) are connected in a parallel configuration across a common voltage source, the total equivalent resistance ( $R_{e q}$ ) is always less than the smallest individual resistor in the network. The mathematical expression is:

\frac{1}{R _{e q}} = \frac{1}{R _{1}} + \frac{1}{R _{2}} + \frac{1}{R _{3}} + \dots + \frac{1}{R _{n}}

Alternatively, it can be written using summation notation:

R_{e q} = (i = 1 \sum n \frac{1}{R _{i}})^{- 1}
