Geological based disasters are those arising from processes within the Earth's crust and lithosphere, including earthquakes (sudden release of stored tectonic strain energy along fault lines), volcanic eruptions (expulsion of magma, ash, and gases from within the Earth), landslides (gravity-driven downslope movement of rock and soil), and land subsidence, all of which are governed by the underlying geology and tectonic activity of a given region.
