Multichip module (MCM) technology is a packaging approach in which multiple bare semiconductor dies (chips) - potentially of different types and technologies - are mounted and interconnected on a single common substrate within one package, providing higher packaging density, shorter interconnect lengths (improving speed and reducing parasitic capacitance), and reduced overall system size compared to packaging each chip separately and connecting them on a printed circuit board.
