Wind farms, like other grid-connected generation sources, are required by grid codes (technical connection standards set by the transmission/system operator) to operate reliably within specified voltage and frequency limits — typically a voltage tolerance band of approximately ±10% of nominal grid voltage, and a frequency tolerance band typically in the range of about 47.5 Hz to 51.5 Hz for a nominal 50 Hz system (or the corresponding range for a 60 Hz system), remaining connected and continuing to generate power within these normal operating ranges without tripping offline.
