What is recording and integrating instruments ?
Answer
Recording instruments plot continuous variations over time; integrating instruments accumulate the total quantity over time.
- Recording Instruments: These instruments provide a continuous, real-time graphical record of the variations of an electrical quantity over a period of time, usually plotting ink on a moving strip of paper. (Example: ECG machines, Substation voltage recorders).
- Integrating Instruments: These instruments measure and sum up (integrate) the total total amount of electricity or energy consumed over a specified period of time. (Example: Ampere-hour meters, household Watt-hour Energy Meters).
