The Fixed Biasing circuit for an NPN transistor consists of a base resistor and a collector resistor connected to a common DC supply .

Applying Kirchhoff's Voltage Law (KVL) from through to the Base-Emitter junction to ground:

Since and are fixed constants, remains fixed, hence the name 'Fixed Bias'.

The collector current is determined by the transistor's current gain :
