(A) Estimate dc emitter current in each transistor of differential amplifier shown in fig. 1. Find the dc voltage from each collector to ground and also find Vout.

Answer

In a balanced differential amplifier, the DC emitter current in each transistor is set by the tail current source, collector voltages are calculated using KVL, and Vout (differential output) is zero for zero differential input.

A differential amplifier uses two matched transistors Q1 and Q2 with a common emitter resistor (or current source). For a typical circuit with , , , , and equal inputs ():
