Why is IPv6 important for IoT?

Answer

IPv6 is mathematically mandatory for IoT because it provides the infinite addressing space required to uniquely identify the trillions of microscopic sensors coming online globally.

Without IPv6, the IoT architecture collapses. IPv4 forces devices behind chaotic NAT (Network Address Translation) routers, breaking end-to-end connectivity. IPv6 assigns a mathematically unique, globally routable IP to every single lightbulb and pacemaker, allowing direct peer-to-peer cloud communication and eliminating NAT traversal nightmares.
