What is a Port?

Answer

A Port is a physical hardware interface on the motherboard through which the microprocessor communicates with external I/O devices.

A Hardware Port is a strictly defined physical and mathematical docking interface. It acts as an absolute gateway, allowing the microprocessor to aggressively push binary data out to, or pull binary data in from, external peripheral hardware (like keyboards or monitors) using specific 8-bit addresses.
