Question
What is the difference between Listening and Hearing?
Answer
Hearing is a purely passive, involuntary biological reflex, whereas listening is an aggressive, voluntary cognitive process requiring deep mental focus.
The difference is fundamentally physiological vs. cognitive. "Hearing" is a purely passive, involuntary biological reflex; the ear physically detects sound waves. "Listening" is an aggressive, highly active, and entirely voluntary cognitive process. It requires immense mental focus to deliberately decode the physical sound waves into meaningful, actionable information and intent.
