Print media is generally considered more strictly reliable due to the severe editorial friction and permanent physical immutability of the printed page.
Historically, Print Media (peer-reviewed journals, textbooks) is considered significantly more reliable than standard Online Media. The extreme financial cost of physical printing forces rigorous editorial oversight, rigorous fact-checking, and peer review prior to publication. Once printed, the text is physically immutable. Conversely, online media can be published instantly by anyone and maliciously altered anonymously without leaving a trace.
